Christmas Boxes

It is already time to begin planning for Operation Christmas Child! This is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse that distributes shoeboxes filled with small gifts to impoverished children around the world. Samaritan's Purse adds evangelism literature to our boxes and follows through in the communities that receive boxes to make sure recipients hear the good news of Christ after receiving a box. This year's collection deadline will be Wednesday, November 16 at 2:00pm. That means the last Sunday will be November 13. Boxes are available outside the choir room or you may use your own box.  Details on how to pack a box will be included in the bulletin in the coming weeks, but Samaritan's Purse is putting a big emphasis on including a "wow" item this year - a stuffed animal, doll or other toy that will really delight the child who receives it or a cool article of clothing for older children.  If you would like to participate but are unable to shop for items, members of the Disciple Sunday School class are willing to shop for you.  Please contact Julie Wilkes if you need a shopper. Also, please include your $7 donation to cover shipping expenses.  The preferred way to donate is online at
When you donate online, you will print the packing label and attach it to your box. You will receive an email from Samaritan's Purse in the spring letting you know where your box was delivered. Last year our box went to Burundi. If you are unable to donate online, you may still put the donation in the envelope and include it inside your box.
We have an additional opportunity to be involved with OCC this year! Little Stevens Creek Baptist will be taking groups to the packing center in Charlotte on 11/23 from 1:00-5:00 and on 12/17 from 1:00-6:00.  If you would like to join their group, please call Lauren in the church office as soon as possible.  They have 40 slots open to the community and will fill them as they are requested. As always, thank you for your participation and support of our church missions!
